Director/writer/producer Christopher Nolan is best known for reviving the Batman franchise with Batman Begins and the spectacular sequel The Dark Knight. He has also helmed other note-worthy films such as The Prestige and Memento. This summer his film Inception which stars Leonardo DiCaprio in a lead role will blow audiences away. re a non-linear narrative presentation wherein events in the movie don’t happen in chronological order. This is evident in the movies Following (1996), Memento (2000), Batman Begins (2005) and The Prestige (2006). Nolan is also a multi-awarded screenwriter writer and director and was nominated for an Academy Award for original screenplay.
It took Nolan at least ten years to finish writing the script of his upcoming movie, Inception. He took different approaches to the idea, first wanting to make it a horror movie then a heist movie until it evolved into what it is now: a science fiction adventure movie. He also had to convince DiCaprio to star in the movie and the two had months of conversation between them discussing the movie and DiCaprio’s character’s emotional journey. Inception tells the story of Dom Cobb, an expert thief when it comes to corporate espionage. However his expertise doesn’t happen in Wall Street, it happens inside people’s heads. He steals secrets in their dreams. The movie was shot in different locations all over the globe including Tokyo, London, Paris, Tangier and Calgary. The cast was not only star-studded but international as well. It includes Ken Watanabe, Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy, Michael Caine and Joseph-Gordon-Levitt and the previously mentioned DiCaprio.
Nolan says, “I tried to work that idea of manipulation and management of a conscious dream being a skill that these people have. Really the script is based on those common, very basic experiences and concepts, and where can those take you?
