Ragnarok Online 2 guide to choose a class

Ragnarok Online 2 guide to choosing a class by Tiramisu.

Hey there i see some threads asking around what classes to choose so i thought this might help a little. For those who played Ragnarok Online, to choose Ragnarok Online 2 classes you can just forget anything you know in RO1 coz their skills and ability is quite different compared to RO1. Don’t expect much as i only played RO2 for a month Bear in mind that the skill names that i’m going to mention are not accurate because it is translated from korea and it is not the official english skill name.

Note: only Normans can change classes. Other races like Ellr and Dimago dun have classes.

Novice:
Weapon: Short Sword/Long Sword
Though most of you will advance to others classes, novice is also an interesting class as they now have more skills to support them unlike novice in RO1. With good stats and skills, they can be strong close ranged fighters. The most popular skill for novice is the Opportune Strike/Quick Hit which enable you to strike once with a sword in a higher damage compare to normal damage. This skill can also be brought to your advance class. Highly recommended for those aiming to be a swordie.

Swordsman:
Weapon: Long Sword
Swordsman attacks in RO2 is quite low compare to other classes and the most effective way to increase their attacks is by depending on skills like Long Sword Mastery and Warriors Body. Furthermore, before you change your class from novice to swordsman it is recommended to stay as a novice until you’re level 15 because Opportune Strike and Tension can help a lot for swordie. Tension is basically a skill to maintain LP(Letalis Points) a little longer when you’re not in combat mode. Letalis Points can be gain from using certain skills that gives LP and LP is needed for using powerful skills. LP will decrease when you’re not in combat mode.

Thief:
Weapon: Short Sword
Thief’s skill able to deal a high damage to monster and has a skill that enable you to add element poison to your own weapon and the weapon of your party member. In addition there is a steal skill which is useful as you don’t need to kill a monster to acquire the item needed for quests. They also have a skill which is alike to Sniper’s Wind Walk that enable you to walk faster.

Recruit:
Weapon: Damp Flinte/Rifle
Recruits on Ragnarok Online 2 are Archer/Gunslinger and obviously depend on long range attacks. However unlike archers, Recruits can switch to short range attack as well. Recruits tend to move around their enemy a lot while attacking them so for those who are lazy to do so don’t choose recruit .
At the start of close beta in korea, many players choose to become recruits but as months passed recruits are loosing popularity because a lot of people say their skill doesn’t deliver higher damage compare to normal attacks and some skills even deal lower damage than normal attacks. Perhaps it is a bug and hope that this won’t happen in RO2SEA.

Enchanter:
Weapon: Sword Stick
A mix between Wizard and Priest as they have attacking skills like Fire Bolt, Ice Arrow, Summon Lightning and more that deals a ridiculously high damage to monsters. For example, if a swordsman need 5 hits to kill a pukui, enchanter only require 1 hit to finish pukui off. Next is the Heal skill that is able to heal the yourself and others like in RO1 so enchanters are always in demand for parties. Casting time very slow especially when you’re lagging. A very popular class in RO2.

Clown:
Weapon: Short Sword
Clown is kind of like Thief + Priest. They have a lot of skills using poison like adding poison element to their weapon, poisoning their enemy’s armor and attacking their enemy with poison. Their Self Heal skill is quite popular and many players choose to be a clown because of that. They have a lot of skills that help them to support party members like Healing Wave, Fighting Spirit, Mental Wave and Healing Spring.

About the weapon thinggy, actually a class can use different weapons but you have to buy the mastery skill for different weapon. For example swordies can use damp flinte like recruits so that they have long ranged attack as well heh
Don’t be afraid to spend a small amount of rufi and time to try out all the classes to choose which 1 suits you best as normans can switch classes in ease.
btw… 10,000 Rufi = 1 zeny

Enjoy playing Ragnarok Online 2!

Also have to say that if you’re a newbie, you should start with enchanter since it’s the easiest class to lvl with.

    /agree with Yucky
i tried the private server (http://www.euphro2.com) the easiest and fastest class to level is an enchanter, but then again the rest of the class is bugged and a lot of skills aren’t working either.
I tried a both type of enchanter (melee type, and the caster type) which i find the easiest is the caster type.
    This is what i do,
    put all stat for INT
    focus your expense on skills
    - Firebolt
    - Heal
    - Lightning
so far my enchanter is lv 38, and i haven’t met any difficulties on killing things.

I agree with you both. Going for a melee-caster is really a wise thing to do but you need to start off as a swordsman, level all the necessary skills that would enable your caster to take use melee and take melee damage later. One should raise the swordsman first to a high level with high level skills then change into a caster.

Enchanter is cool…And i think the thief sounds good since it can enchant poison..But i don’t like that they have made enchanters have heal and such powerful attacks…Maybe a to powerful of a character i haven’t played so i really don’t know. Sounds good thanks for the guide. I’m basing what ever on ro1 though

I really wanna try the thief out in this one. I loved making SinX’s in RO and I’m really hoping they bring in the advanced classes.

    comment-bottom
  20. avatar comment-top

I think I overplayed the thief in RO and I am sure that its followup on ROII will be(is) just as effective. I must say the ranger class looks interesting as well.

This will totally come in handy!

  22. avatar comment-top

When I first played RO1, I fell in love with someone riding an pekobird wearing a crusader outfit. Appart from that, always had a weakness for knights in awesome armors.

Swordsman seems promising. Enchanter seem overpowered and somehow makes me think about that anime whose name I don’t know..

Then that ranger class seems like it could be fun too.
Will have to check out the other two races first though.

    comment-bottom
  30. avatar comment-top

    Tip for you guys:

I found out while playing that novice skill complement well thief ones. Thives are an excellent class since they attack fast and can deal critical damage and novices have “Quick Blow”, “Insight Strike” and “Mastery of Kings” that let them use their skills to full potential. Combined with the thief’s “Manhood Breaker” the novice’s “Quick Blow” let you gain LP extremely quickly and then use a very powerful attack “Insight Strike” combine this with a good critical rate and at lvl 15 you could be doing a whooping 350 dmg (450+ with up to date novice skills) with it and there is no cast time unlike with enchanters. Then there is the passive skills like mastery of kings and short sword mastery that boost your overall attacks and let you take much higher lvl monsters then you previously could.

Thnx for the tip Maz! Btw, what’s your stats on your thief? I tried using a thief but I never get far coz I missed my enchanter! lol. I just can’t bear to think of killing mobs for 8-10 hits when I can kill them at 3-4 hits with my enchanter (Chromedome). lol.

I used three stats for my thief: STR (damage), DEX (crit), CON (fast attck and accuracy (i think) ). I focused more on Dex though.

    comment-bottom
  33. avatar comment-top

Right now im lvl 15 base 14 thief 13 novice, my main stat is DEX for crits followed by STR (mostly with gear) and then CON for fast attack.
    18STR, 18DEX, 12CON

I kill mobs with much more then 8 hits more like 15-20 but they fall in less then 20 sec and are often 1-2 lvls higher then me. The problem with my thief is some skills don’t work properly (Bleed and wound)reducing my overall damage but with good str and dex, I can do a couple of 300+ hits amongst my regular attaks.

  38. avatar comment-top

As soon as I saw that Enchanters were the healers/buffers, I wanted to play as one. xD But I must admit, I’m a little disappointed that they didn’t make two seperate magic classes — one for healing/buffing, and one for offensive magic. :\ Throwing all those in there together just makes the enchanter seem overpowered. But then again, you can’t have all the skills, so a lot of interesting builds will probably surface. :)

Swordies and clowns look pretty cool too, but I think I’ll end up being an enchanter in the end, anyways.. xD

    comment-bottom
  48. avatar comment-top

I like the self healing element of the clown.

    comment-bottom
  49. avatar comment-top

clowns a bit hard to level at first coz most of their skills are for support. You’ll have to rely on novice skills to survive on the early stage of the game especially if you can’t find any party. You need to stick to novice for quite a while, level those melee skills then change to a clown. :D

Clowns and novices have a heightened healing rate with certain skills, it is important to use these as they minimize the amount of time you spend sitting and healing. Clowns are also one of the rare classes capable of fighting underwater for a long period of time. I admire anyone who plays a clown and sticks to the class, anyone.

To be honest, Enchanters really aren’t the fasted job to level up with. They really lack in the HP department and this becomes a crucial neccessity once you hit up Alfhiem Forest, Alfhiem Poro Island & Nunlif Dungeon. Enchanters are about the 3rd fastest monster killers on the game, 1st would be Thiefs, 2nd Clowns. Thiefs are the fastest and maybe even the strongest job for RO2. I have 85 Enchanter jobs and now i’ll be changing to thief untill Lv. 99. I’ll also be trying out a full STR Enchanter and I’ll see what thats like~

Okay, so seeing as how Enchanters wield Cane Swords I immediately gravitate toward them, but then with powerful offensive magic and healing they seem a bit overpowered. Is there any feasible way to make a sort of hybrid warrior/mage out of an Enchanter? If so, can I still use the Sword Stick (personal favorite weapon)?

    comment-bottom

    @bkdubs123

You can create a melee-caster character if you want a hybrid enchanter. I have state my opinion about this build on my Ragnarok Online 2 Enchanter Guide. Do check it out if you have the time. You can still use swordstick even if you have changed or plan to change a job. Just select “CHANGE JOB ONLY” instead of “CHANGE JOB AND WEAPON” in changing your job.
