Watch Salt Online For Free – A-list star Angeline Jolie is back on the big screen in the upcoming action thriller Salt. Her last movie was way back in 2008 with the drama Changeling, which was directed by Oscar-winning director Clint Eastwood and based on a true to life story of a woman looking for her lost son set in the 1920s.It earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress but lost to Kate Winslet for The Reader.
In Salt, Angelina plays Evelyn Salt, a CIA agent accused of being a KGB sleeper agent by as defector. They are convinced that she is sent assassinate the President of the United States. Evelyn then goes on the run to clear her name and is out to prove that someone else is the traitor, while trying to reunite her family.
The role was first offered to Tom Cruise in 2007 as Edwin A. Salt but he declined because of scheduling conflicts. He also added that he feared that the role closely resembled his character Ethan Hunt in the Mission: Impossible series. The filmmakers tried to convince him that the role was different but later accepted the fact that the Cruise had a point that Salt was closely similar to Hunt. Phillip Noyce, the director of the movie said, “But, you know, he had a valid point. It was kind of returning to an offshoot of a character he’d already played. It’s like playing the brother or the cousin of somebody that you played in the movie.” Amy Pascal, an executive of Columbia Pictures, then suggested to Noyce to ask for Angelina to play the character. Angelina and Amy once talked about how Angelina wanted to create a female spy franchise like Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible, Jason Bourne of the Bourne films, and James Bond of the Bond franchise. Jolie was then sent the script written by Kurt Wimmer that September and loved the project. Wimmer, Noyce, and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura then went to France to talk to Angelina for the film and for the possible “sex change” of the character. Writer Brian Helgelandthen developed the character to change the gender from being Edward A. Salt to Evelyn Salt. And the rest is, what they always say, film history.
Salt also includes Live Schreiber as Tewd Winter and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Peabody. It is set to hit theaters on July 23, 2010. But you can also watch Salt movie online.
