November 14 will be another one memorable day for us Filipinos. On this day, our Boxing Hero, Manny Pacquiao is scheduled to fight the Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto on the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Many calls the Pacquiao Vs Cotto match the fight of the year since everyone is thinking that whoever wins this match will surely aim for a fight against Mayweather Jr.

Pacquiao has already started his grueling training in Baguio Philippines and not on the Wild Card Gym which is the place where he usually does his training. You can read the reason on why pacquiao is not training in the US on the blog watchpacquiaovscotto.com.

According to the blog, Pacquiao is currently the IBO and Ring Magazine Light Welterweight champion. And Ring Magazine, boxing’s most respected magazine, has ranked him the No. 1 pound for pound boxing in the world. He is also the former WBC Lightweight world champion, WBC Super Featherweight world champion, IBF Super Bantamweight world champion, and WBC Flyweight world champion. He was also the the former holder of Ring Magazine’s title for Featherweight, Super Featherweight, Light Welterweight divisions. If he wins this fight against Cotto, he will be the very first boxer to win seven boxing titles in different divisions. We’re all crossing our fingers that he bags this one.

Miguel Cotto on the other hand is Puerto Rico’s brightest star and biggest draw in the ring. He has fought and beaten some of the sport’s biggest names like Shane Mosley, Joshua Clottey, Zab Judah, and Michael Jennings. At the age of 28, he has been a pro for 12 years. He has represented Peurt rico at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and the 1998 World Championships where he won the silver medal.

He won the WBO Light Welterweight world title at the age of 23 and successfully defended it six times, before vacating the title to move up in weight division. He is also a former WBA welterweight champion. He currently holds the WBO Welterweight title. He has 34 wins (27 by KOs) and 1 loss.
