Installing Ragnarok Online 2 on Windows Vista. A lot of gamers have been complaining of getting errors while installing or running Ragnarok Online 2 on Windows Vista. Their complains and requests for help is scattered all over this site so I decided to create a post that would contain the known issues on installing and running RO2 on Windows Vista and how to fix them.
Everyone is welcome to contribute to this post. Just post a comment on the problem that you’ve faced and how you solved it. If you haven’t solved it yet, just post it anyway and I will add it on this post and hope for some good samaritan to come and provide us a solution.
In case you don’t have any idea on where to download the Ragnarok Online 2 client, patches, applocale, etc., click on this link: RAGNAROK ONLINE 2 DOWNLOADS
Here’s a guide provided by ETERNAL_NOVA on how to Install Ragnarok Online 2 on Windows Vista.
If you would like to install Rag2 to vista and when you try to open the Setup it may not load. If this is the case, do the following:
Go to Start, Then type “CMD.EXE” when cmd appears hold “Ctrl+Shift” and then click it. This will open it in Administrator mode.
Once in this mode type the file path of your setup, it’ll be something similar to “C:\Users\Username\Downloads\Rag2. If you do not know the file path right click on the setup file and go to properties. Here it will show the file path.
Once it installs you may come across you’re second problem. The game won’t open and displays a load of random characters. What you need to get now is a program call Microsoft AppLocale. Download it from the microsoft website and install it the same way as you insalled Ragnarok.
Some people may find it a LOT easier to go to Control Panel, Users, and turn OFF User Account Control. UAC. When it installs open it up and choose “Next” “Launch Application” Then choose the Ragnarok.exe file “next” now the hard part, choose the fourth from the bottom of the list. This is the Korean one. The last symbol looks like this 0-|. Once it opens you will need to patch the game most likely. Just let it do it’s thing. It should now open up. Good Luck and Enjoy
A bunch of thanks to Eternal_Nova for providing the guide on how to Install Ragnarok Online 2 on Windows Vista!
PROBLEM: While patching, you get random error messages.
SOULTION (provided by Eternal_Nova) :
If you get a random message during patches try this.
Go to the ragnarok folder but do not open it.
C:\Programfiles\Gravity\Ragnarok 2Right click on the folder and go into properties.
Once in properties go to the SECURITY tab, Here you should see SystemUsername (Computername\Username) for example Nova (Bob/Nova)
Administrators (Computername\Administrators)Click on the Username (Computername\Username) and choose the edit option below it.
Here choose “Full control” and then save the changes. The reason Ragnarok couldn’t patch was because the updater was not given full access to edit the information installed by the administrator. This will solve you’re problems.
PROBLEM: Having trouble installing Microsoft Applocale on Windows Vista.
SOLUTION: I found this link on the net to help you out. INSTALLING APPLOCALE ON WINDOWS VISTA

Me thinks the post should be renamed as “Installing RO2 on Vista” instead of Running. Because the post itself gives the impression of RO2’s Error problems AFTER the install.
Thats just my opinion though, nothing important.
More power,
Eve

Any my game still actually won’t run. The weird part is I don’t even get any error msgs. I open Rag2, I click start game, and it looks like it’s going to run, but absolutely nothing happens. I check my Task Manager and nothings happening, not even in processes… O_o

i’d like to help you guys out but unfortunately I am not using Windows Vista. Let’s wait for some good samaritans who might drop by here who might know the solution to your problems.
You can first try re-installing the game if you have not done it yet.
